I am a very recent graduate from Saint Mary's University with a Bachelor of Arts, having majored in Political Science, and minored in English. I was also president of a campus society last year and went to Ottawa and New York last year to attend Model United Nations in both cities. I am the youngest of three children and have lived my entire life in Dartmouth. I currently volunteer at the Provincial Autism Centre in Halifax, where I edit a newsletter called Autistics Aloud, and at the same time I am president of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Council, which just had its first annual conference on April 2nd on World Autism Awareness Day (in case you were wondering, yes, I am autistic).
I first got involved with the Green Party in 2005 because of increasing concerns about climate change and general destruction to our natural habitat. I also ran in my riding of Dartmouth South-Portland Hills in the 2006 provincial election (which has been taken up by someone else in this election) and received the third highest number of votes for any GPNS candiidate. I am also an avid reader of classical literature and appreciate the arts in most of its forms, and have had an almost lifelong interest in politics as well as following current events.
