Born in Tacoma, Washington, U.S.A, I lived and worked in Washington and then Boulder, Colorado, before emigrating to Vancouver, B.C. in 1985. Once our landing was complete, I moved with my husband, Randy Hester, a stained glass artist, and my children, then 7 and 4, to Halifax County. We have lived here since 1987 on and around St. Margaret's Bay.
In 1993, I was one of a group of parents and teacher sto begin the Shambhala School where I have continued to work up to the present.
I love Nova Scotia and feel the magic of its place and personality. I
was proud to have to "woods proof" my children rather than having to "street proof" them. This is a quality of Nova Scotia that I would like to preserve and protect. I also see the wealth of the land. We have the potential to become more self-sustaining. I have many ideas about how to improve our preservation of the land and the people of Nova Scotia. I believe we all want to do more, so I am running for the Green Party.
